How it works

The journey from closet to community

Ballers Market isn't just another resale platform. It's a carefully designed system where every item, no matter its price, plays a role in a bigger story. From the moment a player opens their closet to the moment you make a purchase, every step is built around three principles: quality, transparency and impact. Here's exactly how it works.

See the process
01

Player closet curation

It starts with a conversation. Professional footballers (and often their partners and families) reach out to us when they're ready to refresh their wardrobes. Maybe they're moving clubs, clearing space or simply want their unused pieces to do more.

We coordinate the entire process: collection, sorting, labelling and cataloguing. This isn't a quick closet clean-out. We take time to understand the player's style, the condition of each piece and the story behind the items.

During this stage, we also work with the player to choose their impact model:

  • Ambassadors donate 100% of their earnings to a chosen cause (DUCE, a preferred foundation, their first club, or The Salvation Army ReShare). These players are clearly marked with an "Ambassador" badge on our site.
  • Impact players split proceeds between themselves and a cause, or donate everything under €90 to ReShare while keeping earnings from higher-value pieces. They're marked as "Impact players" so you know they're still giving back with every sale.

We make it crystal clear on every player page and product listing so you always know who you're supporting and how your purchase creates impact.

02

Authentication & quality check

Once items arrive at our facilities, every single piece goes through a strict authentication and quality inspection. Our in-house team and trusted experts verify:

  • Brand authenticity (labels, stitching, hardware, materials)
  • Condition and wear level (from Unworn to Pre-loved)
  • Provenance and player documentation

Items that don't meet our standards for the market aren't discarded. They're redirected through The Salvation Army ReShare's international channels, where they find new life across Europe and beyond. This ensures that every single item has a destination and nothing goes to waste.

Everything that passes our quality bar gets assigned a condition rating. For online items (€90+), each piece also receives a Certificate of Authenticity that links it back to the verified player closet it came from.

This step is non-negotiable. Trust is the foundation of Ballers Market, and we earn it one inspection at a time. All while making sure nothing ends up in landfill.

03

Pricing & location split

Not every item goes to the same place and that's by design. We price items based on brand, condition, demand and resale potential, then split them into two tiers:

Under €90 – ReShare Rotterdam only
These pieces are curated exclusively for The Salvation Army ReShare Store in Rotterdam. They're not photographed individually or listed online. Instead, they go straight onto the racks at Korte Hoogstraat 11–13, where they can be discovered in person by shoppers who want accessible, quality fashion without the e-commerce markup.

Proceeds from these items support The Salvation Army ReShare and their broader work with people in vulnerable situations across the Netherlands. Including clothing distribution, care, community services and crisis response.

€90 and above – Online with full transparency
Higher-value items are photographed with professional packshots, listed on ballers-market.com with detailed descriptions, and sold with full impact information. You'll see:

  • The player it came from
  • Their impact badge (Ambassador or Impact player)
  • The condition rating
  • Which cause your purchase supports (DUCE, a player foundation, their first club, or ReShare)

This dual model keeps Ballers Market sustainable while ensuring that every price range creates real-world impact. Whether you shop online or in-store, your purchase moves more than just your wardrobe.

04

You shop, impact follows

Whether you buy online or visit ReShare Rotterdam in person, your purchase moves more than just your wardrobe.

Online buyers get:

  • Professional packshots and detailed product pages
  • Certificate of Authenticity with player provenance
  • Full transparency on which cause your money supports (DUCE, ReShare, players' foundation or first club)
  • Secure checkout and tracked shipping across Europe

In-store shoppers get:

  • Spontaneous discovery of under-€90 items from verified player closets
  • The ability to try on, feel and inspect items in person before buying
  • Direct support for The Salvation Army ReShare and their work with people in vulnerable situations across the Netherlands
  • A physical shopping experience that connects football culture, circular fashion and community impact

Both paths extend the life of quality clothing, reduce textile waste and fund causes that matter. You choose how you want to engage. Either way, you're part of the movement.

05

Transparency & reporting

We don't just say "your purchase makes impact". We show you how.

Every online product page clearly states which cause you're supporting. Player pages explain their chosen model (100% donated Ambassador, or partial donation Impact player). And we publish regular updates through our News and Impact pages, sharing stories from:

  • DUCE events and youth programmes in Rotterdam
  • The Salvation Army ReShare's community work and crisis response
  • Player-led foundations and first club initiatives
  • Behind-the-scenes looks at how items move through our system

This is full-circle transparency. You know where your money goes. Players know their closets are creating change. Partners like ReShare and DUCE know they have reliable funding to keep their work going.

Everyone stays informed. The movement keeps growing. And fashion starts to mean something more than just what you wear.`

06

Why this model works

Most resale platforms operate on volume: list everything, sell what sells, discard the rest. We operate on purpose.

By splitting items into two tiers. Online and in-store. We create a system where:

  • High-value pieces get the attention, photography and e-commerce infrastructure they deserve
  • Lower-priced items reach people who need accessible fashion the most, without unnecessary overhead
  • Players can choose their impact model and see exactly where their earnings go
  • Shoppers get full transparency, whether they're buying online or browsing in Rotterdam
  • Nothing goes to waste. Items that don't sell locally are redirected internationally through ReShare's network

This isn't just resale. It's a circular system designed to last, built around the belief that every item should have a story and a destination.
